Personalization

Setting up personalization
  1. Setup the CEP/DMP connector by following the steps as described in the documentation.
    1. The connector is needed to sync users between CEP and DMP which is required for personalization purposes
  2. Make sure the DMP on-site pixel has been implemented on the website.
  3. Go to the DMP. In the first step of pixel creation and/or editing, you can collect custom data using JavaScript code. There are two options for you to collect custom data:
    1. A PS consultant can help you implement the collection of custom data
    2. If you are/have a developer with knowledge of JavaScript in-house we can provide you with in-depth technical documentation and access to advanced features. Contact your Account Manager for more information.
  4. Go to Custom Data and enable the custom data points for personalization by checking the boxes.
  5. Send an audience to CEP with users who visited your website.
    1. The user needs to have visited your website to personalize content in the email.
  6. Go to CEP and create a new message.
  7. Click on Personalization when composing an email and select the custom attributes from the DMP.
    1. The custom attributes from the DMP can be recognized by the format: DMP [name of the custom data point you created in the DMP].
  8. You can preview the personalized message by clicking on preview. This will open a popup. By selecting a contact who visited your website you will be able to see the personalized email which will be sent to the contact.
  9. Send the message.

Note:
• If a user is sharing his/her device with somebody else (same user account, same browser). In that case, web behavior from person B could be displayed in an email meant for person A.
• Without the ability to make a match between a known user (email capability) and an unknown user (DMP capability) it is impossible to match the two together. In that case, web behavior cannot be linked to a personalized email.
• The personalized attribute displayed in the email is always the last viewed attribute.
